Footy Day!

Yesterday it was Footy Day at St. Martin’s.  Every year, Mr. Zac our PE teacher, organises a day where we can wear our favourite footy team clothes and participate in a Footy Clinic, followed by a whole school footy parade.

We really enjoyed the Footy Clinic in the morning.  There were lots of helpers from the AFL to help us practise our kicking and handball skills.  We first did a warm up and then we played some games before our skills session.  The Year 2’s rotated through all the activities that were planned.  It was so much fun!

In the afternoon, we all gathered on topyard to sing our Footy team songs!  Mrs. Stewart our Principal is the biggest magpie fan at our school.   At the Footy parade, she was the leader of the Magpie team and she helped us sing “Good old Collingwood forever…”  Look at the fun we had!

  1. Hi Room 7,
Thanks for visiting our blog. We think that the squirrel is cute too. Our footy day really was lots of fun. We are now waiting to see who will win the Grand Final Game – Collingwood or St. Kilda

There are 23 children in my class. They are 6 and 7 years old. Our school is quite big. There are 450 children and 48 staff at our school. It can be a very busy place. We are 20 minutes from the city of Melbourne.

The children in 2T are on their school holiday break at the moment. They will be back on October the 4th. In the meantime I am quite happy to keep visiting your Room 7 blog. Keep up the wonderful work.
    Ms. Tieppo

  2. Hello 2T,

We like the squirrel on your home page. Thank you for visiting us. It took a while to work out how to view your blog.

We have just finished watching your footy day slideshow and really liked the music. It looked like a big huge bunch of fun.

We were just wondering how old are the children in your class? We have children that are 7 – 9 years old.

Can you tell us a little bit about your school?

We can’t wait to hear back from you.

  3. Hi Miss Yeomans,
We asked people in our grade who they think will win the finals and this is what we think:
    Collingwood: 7 people
    Fremantle: 4 people
    Geelong: 5 people
    St. Kilda: 2 people
    Sydney: o
    We will see what happens!!!!!

  4. So glad I found your blog. I am a Magpies fan living and teaching in the USA; it was fun to share Finals Fever with you.

  5. Hi 2T

No I haven’t met Prince Charming yet! I think you might have to start looking for him for me.

I enjoy popping into your 2T blog and seeing what interesting things you have been doing in your class.

Good luck to all of the people whose footy teams are in the AFL finals! Who do you think will be the 2010 Premiers?

    Miss Yeomans 🙂

  6. Dear Miss Yeomans,

Have you found your Prince Charming? We don’t really think you should use just the North Melbourne colours in the Library because not everyone barracks for that team. We think that you could have a section for each team in the AFL and make your library colourful.
Thank you for writing to us. 2T is pleased to have you comment on our blog.
    from 2T 🙂

  7. Hi Ms Tieppo and 2T

I LOVE footy day!! I love getting out my North Melbourne scarves and bringing my kangaroo and North Melbourne flag along for the footy parade. This year Where’s Wally got to wear one of my footy scarves in the LRC and barrack for the Kangas!! Great to see Maddi, Jack and Sophie in their Kangas gear – Go North Melbourne!

I’m wondering if I might do the new LRC in North Melbourne colours – what do you think??

    Miss Y 🙂
